The minimum amount of money to enter Spain as a tourist has increased

Updated: Oct 21, 2021

The Spanish Cabinet has approved an increase in the gross interprofessional minimum salary which, in 2022 and 2023, will be reviewed again.

The increase will be of 15 euros to the monthly salary, according to the CCOO (Confederación Sindical de Comisiones Obreras) and UGT (Unión General de Trabajadores), assigning a total of 965 euros per month in 14 payments. The law will be in force from September 1st of this year.

What does this mean for people who want to enter the Spanish territory as a tourist?

Foreigners must prove, if required to do so, to the control officials of the entry of people in Spanish territory, that they have financial resources for their support in Spain. The minimum daily amount that a foreigner must prove has to reach 10% of the minimum wage or its legal equivalent in foreign currency per person.

Since this new law was approved, the amount to be declared for entry into Spanish territory has also increased. The new figure stands at 96.50 euros per person per day (the previous figure was 95 euros), with a minimum of 868.5 euros or its legal equivalent in foreign currency.
